Nobody discusses it but it's true. Never met a "military brat" who is remotely normal. Your kids should live within biking distance of both sets of grandparents

Cr I'm convinced that a lot of the mental illness of Americans is from getting psychologically fucked up in childhood due to being forced to move around during the socially most important time of their lives

Moving once or even twice, particularly while younger - probably gonna recover. But after like 5th grade and into High School - man, my high school years feel like the flow on forever - like it was a DECADE. And now seeing my own kids through it, its FLYING BY for me. Hard to imagine they are now living their 'decade'. How do I recall scenarios and peoples names from HS that was literal decades ago? Its SOO molding and base-shaping. Would be tragic to have a kid move areas, let alone schools in the midst of that. It is true that there are more and more online friends and niche-interests these days - but why give them even MORE excuse to recluse into that?
The grandparent thing is kinda true I think, but im not sure its foundational. Its amazing for the kids to have an actual relationship with extended family, and I think its def +EV, but not as much as the above school and social moving stuff.

I had a very chaotic childhood (Scumloser Clique) but my family had enough sense to keep me in same school district so I always had the same group of friends and even enemies. I’m convinced if I didn’t have that bit of stability I’d be much more fucked up than I am now.
