It doesn't make me want to read more. Oh holy shit you're telling me the SEXUAL REVOLUTION was le bad? Maybe this was a groundbreaking info hazard in 1998 to be fair
Camus is great. Always loved in the Stranger how the emotional deadness of the protagonist evaporates when faced with the priest

Yes, if you’ve read one houllecbecq book you’ve read them all
Camus is unreadable to me because his work is based on the assumption that life is meaningless and therefore absurd. I think life is meaningful but horrifying. But because your approach is absurdist I can see why you like him

Okay but what if you're a completely over the top pathological narcissist who Thinks He Is God. What then? Is it still okay for the author to not share your exact beliefs. You Are God, after all. Seems like an issue imo

You don’t have to agree with them, I agree. I liked reading Augustine even though I disagreed with his privatio boni beliefs, and I just finished a book by a Chabad guy which was good even though I disagreed with him. I guess I just don’t like outright nihilism
My takeaway from Camus is that Nihilism is really fucking gay and ruins your life and everyone hates you or is indifferent towards you if you engage in it

He was a partial impetus for my peronal redpilling about books. The guy definitely has good ideas, is very smart, and understands the world at a deep level. But his books just aren't compelling. You finish them and you don't feel like you've been enriched as a person by doing so. Even though your conscious brain recognizes them as "good"
I came to the conclusion that if even Houellebecq's writing just isn't actually a very good investment of one's time to read, then maybe no books are (fact check: True)
