Why not just set a pile of hundred dollar bills on fire and call that your sacrifice to God? What's the point of trading a stack of bills for a lamb and then killing the lamb? Is God supposed to be fooled by that? He just checks to make sure it's real lamb, doesn't care how you got it?

The transitive properties of bloodshed didn't get ppl crucified under Roman law. What Jesus did wasn't anywhere close to a capital crime under Roman law for that matter. Romans sure as hell didn't incorporate Jewish law into their code.

The Romans themselves actually did not care much about the Christ figure at the time afaik and were used to sects and cults coming and going in Judea and the Middle East

Jewish regional religious authorities enmeshed within/concurrent to the Roman administration were repeatedly pressuring the local military administration to hand him over

Yes, based on what we know about the Roman judicial system, the Temple authorities would have had put a LOT of pressure on the Romans. This was a once in a century ask, not something you make a regular habit. The Romans had to be convinced that what Jesus was up to was genuinely sinister or subversive on some level. They had to see a threat to the social order.

the roman legal system in the provinces was "prefect/vel sim. solves problems to the best of his ability, as he sees fit; if he fails, someone else comes to solve problems", you fraud.

It was customary to write the crime of the accused on their crucifix. "Killed a family of 9" might be what you'd write.

On Jesus' crucifix it said "King of the Jews." Since when is that even illegal? How the hell was someone supposed to read that in that place at that time? There's an easy answer.

This was a fight between Jews. This guy is standing outside the Temple saying "God doesn't want your lambs, he wants mine." He was telling that to people who had just made the pilgrimage. Jews had to make a pilgrimage back then, like Muslims today. They were the ones who needed to change their money, and they were the people meeting Jesus for the first time, day one in Jerusalem.

twelve olympian gods. what's your point?

it doesn't matter what judas told the authorities from the perspective of roman governance. kikes were kiking up the province. decisions had to be made. problems did not cease. further decisions were made culminating in hadrian's extreme problem solving.

Temple authorities could do the math:

13 people are here to, uhh, "celebrate Passover." We know twelve are apostles who have been promised leadership roles under the new kingdom, but we want to know who's number 13. Who is supposed to become "King of the Jews" when all is said and done? That's the one we're gonna nail.

Good. It's central to the whole story. I mean the story just wouldn't work on contemporary audiences if the Romans had given the Temple leaders a rubber stamp.

It was a place of sacrifice. Why did people from out of town need local currency and how was that business connected to the local temple?

Crazy to think we could have avoided this whole thing if the people selling the sacrifices simply accepted foreign currency directly, rather than having intermediate money changers.

Can you stop posting this retard shit.

The currency could not have the emperor’s face on it and be given to the temple either directly or by way of sacrifices paid for with that Roman currency. That would be unclean. So the currency had to be changed to kosher shekels, and this money changing was done with a comfortable fee for the seller of the kosher shekels built into the exchange rate.

The theological significance of Christ’s response to this practice has been debated for millennia.

Again please stop posting retard takes when the answer to your bottom-tier questions are readily found with a minute or two of research.

It’s one of those times when clearly the Bible Writer’s Room staff spent the whole week getting high and watching Ren and Stimpy episodes and then when the deadline was approaching they quickly recycled a plotline that never made it in the Old Testament and hoped no one would notice. If they’d been doing their jobs Jesus obviously would’ve done something cool like a Bewitched nose wiggle and then all their gold immediately turned into sand, and the money changers would’ve wailed like little bitches and Jesus would busted out one of his patented dry cool wit aphorisms like “money is the root of all evil and it falls through the cracks between the fingers of fools like the sands of the desert.”
