1. Every city feels exactly the same, no one walks anywhere

2. Restaurants and bars feel the same

3. Re 2, there’s no one that works at the restaurant and bar that cares about it, so much turnover. In most other places it’s still a long time job

4. Everyone is so hurried to leave whenever they do anything. You go to a restaurant or bar and people just eat fast or slam a couple drinks and leave. Where are these people going? To sit at home and watch Netflix usually. Why can’t people just relax.

5. Everyone is a MFE. You’ll have Uber drivers confidently explaining global politics to you

6. There’s something wrong with the food supply. Even when I try to eat healthy I feel like I’m gaining weight.

The combination of the above wears on me after a handful of days. I always have the urge to leave after a couple of days, some fear that I’ll get stuck in the U.S. again

Every time I come back it seems to be worse. Hyper-consumerism is really off-putting and jarring now. Everyone seems stuck in their own consumer-dopine cycle of screens and plastic treats. Whenever I'm in town I want to tell people to raise their heads and look at the trees. It's weird and sad.

Weirdest thing was going on a trip to see the fam and then going back on a quick trip just 3 months later - as soon as I landed, STANLEY mugs. STANLEY mugs alll over the fucking place. It was like every American received their consumersoft update and automatically purchased their STANLEY. It was fucking bizarre. Also, so weird going back and seeing everyone sucking on their sippy cups like adult babies. It's like the US population downloaded some deep seated oral fixation over night.

The only bad part about London is Jan 15-March 15. Other than that, it's 179. Whatever negative shit ppl say on this board is wayyy overblown. London is a pretty great place to live for most people, especially professionals.

Healthcare for life and will have state British pension at 66 and can tap private pension from 55. I could even import my father and NHS would have to provide care. He doesnt need the help fortunately.
