Date: January 13th, 2025 10:48 PM Author: DewarsDude the board, or union, and/or representatives of the HR/benefits departments have the final say, informed by their investment consultants (generally employed by major insurance companies such as Aon, Mercer or Willis Towers Watson)
the idea is generally to prevent employees from sabotaging themselves. (e.g., investing 90% in emerging markets bond funds, oil & gas, or tech sector funds )
this is why you see a preponderance of 'target date funds', or 'allocation funds' that are age-appropriate, wherein the asset allocation is determined by the PhDs and CFAs at the mutual fund firm rather than Joe Employee. |
