He did two episodes inside Cuba. I was trying to find kids or working age adults. Bizarre.
Mexico was the last lifeline pulled and that was a few months ago. I played the podcast on Mexico importing Texan natural gas for over half of their energy needs. That tells me Mexico is not sending help ever again to the current regime. The US will let everyone leave and starve out whoever is left. Remember this is bigger to Rubio than winning POTUS.

The pre-2026 US "embargo" basically just banned US corporations from doing business in Cuba. Leftists complai that profit is theft, and that greedy US corporations exploit the third world by employing people there and selling their shit there. So shouldnt it have been a huge boon for Cuba when these greedy American corporations were banned?

Again, the greedy US corporations were exploiting Cuba and extracting its wealth by selling those goods for exorbitant profits. Shouldnt cuba have been better off without their exploitation? Why couldnt the communists develop factories to build those goods on their own and sell them without greedy capitalist profiteering?

Obama was America's olive branch to Cuba. It was tacitly understood that his replacement, either Hilary or Yeb, would go back to fucking them hard if it didn't work out. They got Trump. The policy, even under Obama, was regime change; that's either through economic incentives on one end, or military force on the other extreme. Cuba decided to stay put and felt like they had a good backing getting cheap energy from Venezuela and Mexico. Did Biden alter the Trump 45 strategy? Not one bit...until January of 20-fucking-25.
Overview of Biden's Cuba Policy
Terrorism List Removal: In January 2025, the Biden administration announced it would lift Cuba's State Sponsor of Terrorism (SSOT) status.
Political Prisoners: The action was tied to a negotiation facilitated by the Catholic Church, leading to an agreement by Cuba to release over 550 political prisoners.
Trump-Era Policies: For most of his term, Biden largely kept Donald Trump's hardline economic sanctions and restrictions intact, despite initial campaign promises to re-engage.
Humanitarian Parole: The administration admitted over 100,000 Cubans via the CHNV humanitarian parole program to help manage border crossings. --- the idea is to starve the country while simultaneously striping it of its productive workforce. By 2040 it's probably a floating data center fed by cheap Venezuelan energy.

I was there in 2019. Depressing as fuck. Like a crumbling East Germany with more sunshine. In a normal residential area a little away from the main touristy areas I saw a job as a security guard advertised on a flyer (pasted to the wall inside a "collective" store with empty shelves) for $15 a month. I took a picture and checked the calculations.
How much weight does sovereignty carry with the people Havana claims to defend? Asked to name the best option for Cuba’s institutional future, 34% chose an independent republic, 30% a status like Puerto Rico’s, and 29% annexation. In a separate binary choice, 73% preferred economic development with foreign involvement over national independence free of it.
