How is this any better than law school?

CS PhDs don't make more money than biglaw lawyers. Arguably neither do MDs.

I think most jobs for CS PhD's from decent programs will clear 200k. I know a math PhD from UC Davis that got a 200k CS related gig without much trouble, and Davis is like in the 30's range for math programs.

And MD's obviously clear 200k too if they are in certain specialties.

Sometimes I wish I would have gone to a different university. Sometimes I also wish I would have married my law school BF when I had the chance. Those are my two largest "regrets" but things turned out pretty well so I'm not stressing over them too much. Of course being a bride at 26/27 is much more sensible/preftigious than being a bride in your early/mid 30s but if being ahead of the curve re: marriage age is my only reason for regretting not marrying my law school ex, then it's probably good I didn't marry him.

I don't know - it signifies that you're a good enough catch to get snapped up early, but aren't pulling an ARE COUNTRY by getting married too young. It's kind of an optimum point, especially if you want to experience some kind of career success and also have kids at a reasonably young age.

This seems credited - you get to spend a lot of years being married and enjoying childless married life. If you get married at 32/33, you pretty much have to have kids right away.

I know a couple of women who are having their first kids at 36/37 and there's just a lot more stress. One of them had a couple of miscarriages and the other didn't want to tell people until the 12-week amnio came back all clear.

Also, you are aware that women can successfully have kids into their 40s? My grandma didn't have my mom until she was 42 or something, and my mom turned out fine.

Did that.

Yet I would have gone to the cheapest/most respectable place as possible for UG. Could've gone to William and Mary for 2k a year. I turned it down to be around new people and in a new area of the country.

Then I would've gone to see a psychiatrist and load up on meds so I didn't get manic depression pwned in college.

But we can't rewrite our lives. But what we can do is write our future, right? THE POWER IS YOURS!

- IT or web development instead of law, probably. law school was fun and i got a job, but i also got $200k of debt. IT seems like it would've been a better career path.

but in all honesty, my life so far has been 180. i'm very very happy with how things have turned out.
