When they captured Ukraine from the Soviets in 1941 they were greeted as liberators and cheered through the streets by the locals.
If the Nazis had been clever they could have raised a large Ukrainian army right then and there to fight with them but because of Hitler and Himmler's obsession with race theory the Nazis treated them like shit until it was too late. |

FYI Nikolayev is about to fall to the rebel advance. It is home to the only decent shipyard in Ukraine. The guided missile cruiser Ukraina is about to become Russian state property :-)
