Legally though, if someone says they’re being “threatened,” now their claim has to meet the legal definition of “threat”? A person can feel threatened by the tone of ones voice, the way the person looked at them, what that person said etc.
Sure, a cop might show up and say “lol that’s not a threat based on the legal definition, I can’t take a report.” Does that mean it’s a crime to call the police if you don’t understand the legal definition of “threat.” I feel like the purpose of the law is to charge people who call in a fake fire or bomb threat at a movie theater. Or something egregious. Not a simple legal misunderstanding. |
