What is the min. GPA to avoid working in the dregs of the legal field. Can a person with a 2.0 have a future? Is a 2.5 enough? A 3.0? A 3.5? What does it take to avoid trash law?
Or does getting C's and B's doom you to being someone's slave from now until doomsday?

as with everything, it depends.
your gpa alone won't break you (unless you're specifically talking about biglaw) if you have other things to offer or have a number of excellent connections/contacts. however, if you have nothing to offer AND have no real connections/contacts (and don't have the personality to develop any either; many law students don't) the minimum is a 4.0.

Well I am glad I have some contacts and a life. :) As for a 4.0, that's near impossible. You would have to be the ultimate gunner to get that!
Oh and as for big law, I don't want to live in the big city, so big law waived goodbye to me long ago. Besides, you can work your way into big law if you win enough big cases.
I am just waiting for the opportunity when I get to tell a IVY league grad I just beat in court, that I didn't even go to an ABA school. Won't that be sweet! That's what they get for not letting me eat at the harvard club!
