It would seem to me that Apple has every interest in making this product seem like it is a normal, everyday, middle class product that everyone should have.
It's not a luxury product. They are not trying to target that segment of the population. I am sure their stance is, this is an everyday consumer need, and it's priced at the prevailing market price.
People used to drop $4,000 on a Macintosh that did absolutely nothing back in the 1980s. People seem to forget this part about Apple.

Crazy to me how otherwise smart people don't understand marketing/advertising.
They don't use a black woman because a black woman is their target demographic.
They use one because stupid white women and soy boys are their target demographic.
You advertise to what people WANT to be or want to be associated with. Not who they are.
