Lost a friend to suicide a few years ago. Also found out that a former co-worker died of cancer recently.

people in my age group i've lost that i genuinely cared about:
one of my close friends died of cancer earlier this year. he was in his mid 40s.
a good friend in college died from taking drugs cut with some form of poisonous chemical- not sure what it was, this was long before fentanyl was a thing.
interestingly, in my dating history, i don't really have any "men i loved who got away and wish i was now with" as the two men that i really loved in my 20s but did not date seriously both died in their 30s:
one is known on this boart as the "big dicked bro" as he has the distinction of being the biggest dick i've ever fucked- died from cancer in his late 30s
the other died in a freak accident, he slipped in his bathroom and hit his head on his tub and died
i've lost other people as well, but they are just acquaintances- to car accidents, cancer, and drug ODs
