Really though, you can't. I mean, you have to do good work and be pleasant all that shit, but many of us no-offers did/said all the right things and still got fucked. Your best bet is to take an offer from a major-market Vault firm, and stay away from midlaw if possible. |

They dragged it out for a couple months with shit like "oh, we won't be able to make a decision until next year." But I knew what was up when they couldn't give me a firm answer in August.
I wanted to clerk anyway so I had been working on clerkship apps for a couple months already. I seemingly struck out with "on plan" judges (didn't get any calls on the day the plan kicked in). I hustled my ass off for the next year by working connections, getting profs to make calls, and interning for a judge. I focused on judges who were hiring late on OSCAR. Fast forward to like May 2010, I managed to line up two federal clerkships (at good courts).
So there is hope for you guys. You just gotta hustle. Good luck. |

Almost nothing popped up 3L. Interviewing with several biglaw firms now, working great non-legal job in the meantime. I really regret spending 3L in a worried trance, just go with the flow. Things will work out as long as you have the right references and top grades or a good undergrad.
