If Musk were to put Twitter up for sale right now, there would be an immediate coalition of establishment elites and financiers who would buy it for well above the monetary price that Musk purchased it for. Twitter's value does not come from its operating profit. Any "valuation" that is based on its "profit and loss" or "financial analysis" is meaningless and wrong. Its value comes from its controller's ability to influence and steer the world and society. Twitter could lose billions of dollars in operations a year, and probably does, and it would still be one of the single most valuable things in existence

we're talking about fidelity's valuation. not about twitter's "value" as a platform to shape public discourse, which is not "valuable" at any sense to investors. and we're talking about *their* valuation.

a charity might provide an incredible amount of value to community but be bankrupt financially. no one is saying that twitter's "value" as a platform is diminished. only that it's "value" in terms of how much it is worth to outside investors *is* lower, and only because elon is *choosing* to forgo maximizing value.
