in 2011, there were a lot of protests against the assad government.
the protests became violent. hardcore islamists, al-qaeda, and other terrorists hijacked the protests and launched an insurrection against the syrian government.
they took over large areas of the country, backed by weapons from the saudis and the turks.
assad's forces were staggered back for a while, but with help from russia and shia factions in lebanon, they've struck back, and are routing the rebels.
this makes obama cry, so, he is now sending weapons to al-qaeda in syria so that they can kill more people. |

also, assad has the overwhelming support of the syrian people now. once they saw how these AQ douchebags wanted to run things, they decided the devil they know is better. |
