EY-Parthenon pushing back MBA start dates again self.MBA

submitted 2 days ago by Present-Brick8627

I graduate from a T20 this spring, interned at EY-P and returning for full-time. They’re screwing us. It’s happening again this year, many of my friends got told last week or a couple weeks ago and I just heard myself. I was supposed to start in July of 2025, now not starting until May of 2026 at the least. If you’re recruiting for consulting be very skeptical of this company.

This is basically “quiet rescinding”. They don’t want to hire you but don’t want the negative publicity from rescinding your offer. By pushing it a year they are hoping that 2/3 of you all “renege” and go somewhere else. Keeps their headcount down without totally nuking their reputation and recruiting pipeline with schools. Schools don’t care because they can still list you as “employed” in their rankings.

This definitely is the case. Deal flow is slow and there is a big push to use AI/India to reduce US headcount.

Teams are much smaller across the board, what used to be 4-5 person teams are down to 3-4.

I assume other big firms are going a similar route.

There are a couple of people that I know that were supposed to begin work next month with EYP and found out two weeks ago that they are now pushed to June 2025.

EYP legitimately robbed them of their second year of recruiting and a year of their careers. Honestly, screw the career departments and the "ethics" behind reneging on a signed offer - find a new offer now, EYP is not a firm you want to continue with.

Edit: Just to add to the severity here. Some of these people have families, moved to VHCOL places like NYC, SF, etc., and signed leases already...

This is the third year in a row that EYP has delayed the majority of their start dates by at least 9 months. Class of 2023 just started two months ago. 2024 (excluding internationals who started early for visa) won’t start until this June. They can’t start your class on time cause they’re starting the class from last year a year late. They should have just rescinded class of 2023 and started all the following classes on time but the optics wouldn’t have looked great. Delaying all these start dates allows EYP to have an (unemployed) bench they call early if the economy picks up. They will continue to recruit to maintain that bench and future top line funnel of talent.
