he clearly has a psychological hang-up about trade deficits, perceiving any and all deficits as the US "losing" out, getting cheated, getting scammed, etc. therefore, his policy is to enact tariffs in proportion to the deficit so that the US is at par or in surplus with every trading partner. he's basically retarded about this on the level of believing in astrology or fan death or some other stupid bullshit that should be horrific to see in the white house.
he also gets off on having world leaders call him to beg for deals because he's a narcissist. he's willing to do all of this at the expense of pretty much everyone, working class or not.
he's said all of the above. it's widely quoted and reported. these are his motivations for doing the tariffs.
now, where does having any sort of intelligent long-term plan to help the working class come into play? i'm not seeing it, maybe an enlightened trumper can explain this to me.
