Verdict on my big case 21 million + 6 years interest = 34 million (CSLG)

Date: February 10th, 2025 1:58 PM Author: calishitlawguru (Self Made UHNW) Verdict came in just now. $21,325,000. Interest is 10% not compounded per year. Adds up to $34,120,000. I split it with the guy who tried it. So I get 22.5%, so my cut is $7,677,000.
My guess is they threaten to appeal and it settles for something between 21 and 34. But who knows. Nick might tell them to fuck off because the insurance policy is 150 million and interest would keep accruing on appeal. |

And several experienced trial lawyers. Chandler is the only one in our office who really has significant trial experience. Has nothing to do with his ability and everything to do with having a team to support you at trial.
Even if we handled this in house and got the same result we would have lots more money just in the volume we do. We do 6-7 million/month in settlements. No way we could have done that while handling this trial. |

when i worked for a solo when i started out, he was mainly a traditional labor guy but we did whatever employment cases came through the door. we had an EEOC case that was going to trial with the EEOC as plaintiff, and this guy (who was like 68 btw) was going to hire a BIG SWINGING DICK trial attorney in baltimore to be lead trial counsel. we never got there, though. my boss got himself disqualified from the case and the client fired him lmao. |

side note: when i was at bakerhostetler, there was a guy in the labor group who had to try a trademark case in federal court because we traditional labor guys at least try cases in front of NLRB judges routinely enough that we know the rules and shit. the so-called "litigators" had never had to examine a witness before.
the case involved dan aykroyd's vodka company. apparently the bottles were shaped like a skull. some lady in CA had a similar product and sued him (or maybe vice versa, but i think she sued him). BH repped akyroyd, and apparently he was super nice. they lost the case, but dan had the partner and his wife over for dinner after and was asking if he was doing okay after the loss.
but anyway, if a lower-tier biglaw firm didn't have a real trial lawyer, i'm guessing lewis brisbois won't either. i doubt they try enough cases to justify what this person would require to stay around. just a guess tho. |
