Date: March 16th, 2025 5:44 PM Author: .,.,.;;,;.,..,:,,:,...,:::,...,:,.,.;.:...:.,:.::, you can't really afford a great house and are youngish anyways so you should be living in an urban place. i guess you could live in austin but it really isn't very appealing, the superficial hype has attracted "amenities" but it's not like you're going to live at the couple of michelin-level sushi restaurants or the luxury stores on south congress. actual life on the ground is not that great and its surrounded by the typical southwestern warehouse hellscape.
you should live in a mid-tier city with universities like pittsburgh or a college town like chapel hill. you could even do a random neighborhood in north/west chicago if you really wanted, that might be pushing it but you wouldn't need a car. |

SXSW is a tech convention and has been since it launched Twitter. It has a minor film festival in town the same weekend and some big musical acts play sets at the tech convention (same as they would at a generic corporate event in SF or Vegas). There are still smaller bands that play shows that same week, but it might as well be the week of Formula 1 in that it has no actual relationship to the tech convention and no one has been signed after their set at SXSW since 2012 if not 2005.
