While this is obviously bad for Ukraine it's a mixed bag for Russia. It's bad for Russia they had to do this, and that they waited so long, but good for them in that it shows they can still escalate significantly. I still predict a Russian victory
Still talk. Let’s see if they can get 300K troops trained armed and supplied and to the front.
I seem to remember some discussions about a nuclear power plant for the last few months but I dunno it was pretty niche so maybe you’re right that this is the first time they’ve tried to strike energy infrastructure IDK
Ding ding ding. These are the same geniuses who were convinced they could take Kyiv with a few paratroopers and also tan a 40 mile long convoy into the ground because maintaining tires is too difficult.
And now they are in a much worse economic position and are ostracized from the global economic system.
Claire is a stupid cunt so is convinced Putin can snap his fingers and fix all these issues so naturally she is all in on Russia winning. What a dumb cunt she is.

"It's bad for Russia they had to do this"
Traditionally, the assumption is that you need a 3:1 advantage as the attacker vs. the defender. Russia went in with less troops than Ukraine had. In Kharkov region where Ukraine just pushed Russia back they had an 8:1 advantage where they were pushing. So I don't see how Russia could have avoided doing this, particularly with NATO weapons flowing into Ukraine.
"and that they waited so long"
Agreed, but at this point everyone expected it and there was very little opposition.

No they didn’t. Ukraine massed forces and firepower on a handful of localized objectives where they were able to temporarily achieve local superiority in numbers, but overall in the region, Russia had either an equal or greater number of personnel. Russia was too dysfunctional to maneuver.

there’s zero chance they have the ability to train anything close to that. maybe they can get 50k troops ready and equipped over the next 3-6 months but that might not even be enough to replace losses

To be fair,
I fully agree. Russia mobilizing 300,000 conscripts after its professional army fails and is effectively destroyed in a war against a tiny Slavic country primarily known for its grain fields is a CLEAR indicator that they are the winning side in this war, will maintain its status as an international superpower, and furthermore has no chance of experiencing any internal strife whatsoever as a result of said mass mobilization.

NOTE TO READER: As used in this brilliant poast authored by a severely-mentally ill admitted brown transexual man who definitely knows what he's talking about, the phrase "a tiny Slavic country primarily known for its grain fields" is referring to the nation of Ukraine, which is the 2nd* largest country in Europe (out of 44 countries) by landmass, the 2nd* largest country in Europe by size of armed forces, and the 7th largest country in Europe by total population.
*Ukraine is 2nd in both cases only if you also count Russia as a European country; otherwise, Ukraine is actually 1st in both categories. I flag that because XO Pumos have assure me countless times now that Russia is actually a non-European nation filled with savage mudblooded mongrels -- which makes it totally unlike Ukraine, which is, of course, a beautiful and deeply European country filled with pureblooded white Aryans. (Last I checked, ethnic "Russians" and ethnic "Ukrainians" are actually genetically indistinguishable groups of people who literally spent most of the last century living in the same country with each other and regularly interbreeding almost as if they were the same fucking group of slavs, but The Science(TM) appears to have shifted on that dramatically on this since February 2022 according to XO Pumos.)

CRAZY TWIST: Russia could also easily destroy America "in weeks from across the globe." In fact, that's literally one of the primary sociopolitical narratives that has defined the course of the last century in world history. Google "nuclear war" and "MAD" sometime, it's some pretty insane stuff!

Hey but since we're in the world of delusional couterfactual fantasy land where Ukraine is really just "a tiny slavic country" and "nukes" ackkkkshually shouldn't really be part of this whole "winning wars" calculus, let's debate which country would win in a TRUE c. 18th Century style battle with muskets etc. That's the REAL test! And I'll bet USA would win handily! Whoo yeah! U-S-A! U-S-A! Take THAT, Russia!

well it’s a very clear sign that Russia’s army has been depleted. surely even you can’t deny that
and this mobilization will not be whatever you think it will be. it will take several months to even get a few tens of thousands of guys trained and equipped, which is not likely to change the situation on the ground when Ukraine still has many more troops to draw on
I’m curious how poorly trained and poorly equipped conscripts will do when we’ll trained and middling-well equipped professional soldiers got their shit pushed in.
Either way it’s 180 to see Russia flailing desperately like this and continuing to run itself into the ground.

yes, they’ll do horribly
and yes this will play out very badly domestically which is why Ukraine is rooting for them to go all out and blow themselves up. there’s very little reason to be concerned that this “mobilization” will be anything but more of the same from the Ukrainian POV, whereas it could be a death rattle for Russia’s decrepit empire

Russia is WINNING so hard they now will mobilize. I'm glad it took Russia this long to realize how dire the situation is for the regime. Its do or die in Ukraine. I fully expect and hope that for every incremental increase in ante Russia puts on the table the US/Europe will match.
Russia mobilizes-->US/Europe sends mid 90s kit in lieu of the 80s/early 90s stuff sent so far.
US/Europe has a lot more escalation left than Russia does. This is existential only for Ukraine and Russia, not the US and not for Europe despite the screeching about winter freezing millions. The only ones freezing this winter will be poorly equipped troops in trenches on both sides (hopefully more on the Russian side).

In your mind do you consider Ukraine and Russia peers? Because they are not. Ukraine is smaller in population and size. They are weaker geographically. They are trying not to be a satellite, while Russia is working to enlarge their Empire/sphere of influence.
There's no "checkmate" anyone is talking about.
If Russia and Ukraine employ the same tactics its a weakness to Russia and a strength to Ukraine because of the differences in perceived starting position.
But you knew all that, its just more fun to reframe arguments as a strawman.

To be fair,
OK well then which country in Europe *is* Russia's "peer" in this regard, exactly? Real talk, because I hear constantly about how Russia is a total fucking TTT joke of a country and an absolute shithole in every possible way and it couldn't punch its way out of a paper bag and it's just totally weak and retarded and gay and this is all just so embarrassing and it's basically dun here militarily...
...and yet not counting Russia, Ukraine is by far the largest geographical country in Europe (most difficult for an invading army to hold), has the largest army in Europe, and ranks #7 (out of 44) in total population (peons to throw into the meat grinder). That makes Ukraine kind of a pretty big deal in Europe on three of the most important key metrics when it comes to waging a non-nuclear land war, IMO. I'm admittedly totally retarded, but is seems to me like Russia actually went after the biggest game around in Europe on this front.
So again, which countries in Europe are "peers" for Russia in this regard since obviously Ukraine isn't? France? Germany? Slovakia? Which one should it be attacking to be "fair" and not a "bully" or whatever (lol)?
Also while we've got you here answering questions about Russia/Ukraine -- how come you, a supposed fighting age ex-military man in good health who patriotically loves your adopted country of Ukraine and lives in Kievyive, haven't volunteered to fight yet? Is there a reason? You keep ignoring that question across all of these threads for reasons I can't fathom.

It happens. You take strong positions and commit to them. It's admirable and entertaining but also means your losses are well documented. Russia may ultimately defeat the Ukraine. I'm not really sure what victory is for them from here. Hold onto Crimea and keep portions of donbas most of which was already Russia controlled pre-invasion?
Maybe i'm wrong and Russia takes the gloves off and pounds ukraine into oblivion.
But i'm not really the "dig my heels in and yell at other people online about it" guy. That's you. So regardless of outcome, i'm not pwned. For whatever reason, you are super invested in the outcome of this war so unfortunately that means it's really important for you that russia wins.
