But football is king in Texas and everyone prefers CFB to NFL, so tons of people from Dallas travel to Austin half their weekends in the fall specifically to watch sports. If we’re talking live music or comedy you have world class v dogshit. Even just like a film festival or big concert series Austin is as good as you can find outside the coasts in the U.S. and Dallas is very much lame as shit on this metric as well. Better nature and more city effort put toward maximizing it in Austin, too. Overall QoL in Austin is way higher, which is why it has dominated Dallas and Houston (and San Antonio lol) as the place that pre-kid 20- and 30- somethings prefer. But if you’re trying to afford a house with a good school combo and your parents live in Dallas or Houston then they make more sense (which is why it’s a self-perpetuating cycle and the other big cities in Texas stay lame). |
