I think it’s actually illegal to kill them, though I’m sure in the rural areas they’re shooting them or whatever. You can’t really do that in the suburbs though, someone will call the cops. In my anecdotal experience the turkeys like the suburbs the most, there’s plenty of food and no one shoots them, and there’s enough trees for them to shelter at night.

They shit all over the place but otherwise they are pretty harmless, true. I do know old people that are afraid of them…when they do get aggressive you have to stand your ground, which is probably easier than it sounds when you’re 80. And not that children play outside unsupervised anymore, but I’m not sure I’d let a rambunctious small child out around them. The Toms are big and not afraid to use their claws if they feel threatened.

Oh sure, agreed. Someone is feeding them, no doubt. In a neighborhood of 100 homes you only need one or two to feed them and cause this problem. Suburbanites do not know how to deal with wild animals.
