for some reason people (almost always women, but occasionally men) say this to my bf often and he takes it as an insult, like they're saying he doesn't deserve me or we're unevenly matched or whatever. it's not always "gorgeous" in particular, but some variation of that, and the "i hope you know how lucky you are" is a near-constant. maybe it's because he's shorter than me, idk.
