Some other anecdotes include a couple that sold their hold in another state to move here in an RV and they had a toddler. Not sure what happened but they had some RV issue and they had to stay at my place and the husband locked himself out of the RV and they know absolutely no one here so I ended up giving him a ride back to the airbnb because his wife didn't have the car seat to go get him or something. He put the carseat in my trunk and spilled crumbs and shit everywhere and they left the house totally trashed from their stupid kid, but it felt nice to help people.
Another guy had never recorded a stay on Airbnb and was new to the app. Left the place immaculate and even left a $15 cash tip on the bed.
The most recent guests that left glitter everywhere also left jewelry. I have mailed it to them and invoiced them $20, I already sent it so I am hoping they pay.

Date: July 9th, 2026 10:43 AM Author: Cheese-eating rehab traveling w/ wife & kid the first week, the airbnb's in paris and barcelona were price competitive with any decent hotel and we get a lot more space / option to do simple meals if we want.
we will use a marriot in madrid when we drop off the kid at the music school, then another airbnb for us in palma |

I've made about $10k in the past 3 months so either these stats are all flame or Airbnb is an extremely poor choice for a business. I am doing this just because I have an extra house that is on acreage so it's really this or let it sit empty or repurpose it into something else. So far an income stream of about $30-40k per year is not bad and I am overall satisfied with the decision but I can't imagine people that have a whole bunch of properties and after taxes and cleaning and whatnot there's no way they are making much profit.
