if we have to do a playoff, 4 was the right number. no team outside of the fourth seed could honestly claim they should have a shot at a national championship based on their performance in the season, so 4 seeds took care of the problem where a third team could rightfully object to not being in the BCS National championship game.

It's the only sport where people seriously are like "sure that scrappy team managed to win, but the true champions is the team who paid for bigger faster players who just couldn't manage to play as a team and win! |

Date: January 1st, 2025 11:34 PM Author: internet guy It is weird. I can't stand the 'eye test' and fact that wins and losses don't appear to matter. They might as well set the CFP Playoff bracket before a game is played in the season based on strength of recruiting classes, because that's what they want to do anyway with the eye test. I want an undefeated UCF team in over a 2 loss SEC/Big Ten team.
But I also concede that there is some logic to putting in a 2 or 3 loss power 5 team with a hard schedule in over a 12-0 team with a weaker schedule. There's only 12 games that can be played for any team. Scheduling 11 teams outside of the top 25 and getting lucky with a t15 team shouldn't be an automatic bid. I get that criticism even if I want a to see an undefeated conference usa team in there. |
