Severe mental illness can disable someone, but having anxiety or depression or whatever are things that everyone experiences from time to time. Convincing someone that they need a YUGE pharmacological and thereapeutic intervention anytime they start feeling bad is a huge overreaction designed to prop up this industry. Also, these thereapists have like no training. They take like 2 courses on cognitive behavioral therapy, and then get paid like $200 an hour to sit at home with a noise making machine and take people through basic meditation techniques.

It's deeply disturbing.

The other big online industries are of course coaching, guruing, podcasting. It's like people wake up one day and say to themselves, "my calling is to be a pompous, repititious weirdo who puts out 10 YT videos a week!"
