One day he went schitzo and started lightning fires and got arrested for arson and they realized he was schitzo af. He went from leading man to insane asylum.
He dropped out, changed his name, grew a beard and became a painter. I think he paints his internal demons. He was like a cheeky Michael J Fox type beforehand. He could cut a rug. I never saw him again but I saw his fucked up paintings. His ex gf grew up, had a ton of dick in college, married Chad and they have two kids now and are turbo woke. White family with BLM photos in everything.
The other was this dude junior year hs. He seemed normal and charismatic. One day he just dropped out of school and started living on the street in the city. I ran into him downtown a few times I was like how's it hanging. He just said school wasn't for him and he wanted to be a photographer or something. Idk just seemed like nothing was really that wrong with him but he was committed to being a loser I'm not sure. He could have just stayed on a normal path.
Last one was this chick with super hippie parents this white suburban girl she ran away from home and got knocked up by a black drug dealer. She was addicted to heroin for a while. She used to be really normal. I think her parents didn't give a fuck what she did. I last saw her working at a gas station her eyes seemed completely glazed over and she was slack jawed. People thought she was going places before she hit like 15 and started wilding out. |

Fuck that reminds me of some other guy I knew. He moved to Colorado to become a weed grower. He looked like a Winklevoss twin. We used to be friends but we had a falling out one summer. He used to tell me about all his hookups and shit and his rampant cheatmoing. One day I messaged him on AIM and I was like how's all the hos doing. He said his gf saw the message and found out about his bad behavior and broke up with him and he blamed me for it and was like YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD TO ME like it was all my fault. I had no idea his gf would be logged in on his sn.
Anyway he was pretty insane but 6'6" blonde and chiseled. Parents were rich. I am 99% sure he was completely psychologically addicted to weed. Definitely had several personality disorders. I always had a soft spot for him. He loved weed, skiing, women, and Oakleys.
He had a brother who was completely normal. |

But the most memorable was the salutatorian who had a coveted full ride to our flagship state school and then proceeded to flame out in his first semester because he literally never went to class. Just played Halo in his room smoking weed all day and then went out drinking all night. Every single day. Withdrew before getting his grades back and losing his scholarship. Went into the Peace Corps. Or Americorps or some thing for two years. Eventually came back, graduated, but has been on a middling trajectory ever since. Barely middle management at some RTP tech company these days. In HS he was the guy you were sure would be running something major one day, or a founder, something. But once he lost that spark it was just *gone* |

Would love to see the statistics on this. Our campus had a ton of these dudes who just played vidya until they were gone.
Your first part reminded me of someone. There was this low IQ busty jewess I grew up with who was very popular. She ended up marrying a Marine right out of hs. No idea what happened but it's goofy as hell looking back. She could have married a white collar professional or gotten a career but her prole DNA kicked in and she went for blue collar Chad. It's funny how life happens she could have been really successful but she proled out big time. It's funny how evolution works you have all of these societal forces propping up civilization and then you just get people who follow their twot to the bottom because they can't help it. |

And in these communities a man from a successful family might marry the beautiful but simple girl from a poor family. And in so doing her whole family’s circumstances might be improved. Her brother advances at her husband’s family business, etc.
Similarly a bright and promising young man might hope to marry the daughter of one of the rich families to everyone’s mutual benefit. He would find the resources and opportunities to make the best use of his skills. The family would benefit from the industriousness of new blood.
But now it’s just lawyers marrying lawyers and doctors marrying doctors. College educated young people in cities are pooled into a giant, limitless, dating market. And so they all just keep swiping. The promise of someone prettier or taller or with a bit more money always one flick of the thumb away. And if they do settle down it’s with someone exactly like themselves. Meanwhile the proles sink further into proledom, associating with only one another. Everybody in their separate spheres. Social mobility and cohesion gone. Social institutions rotted. |

He calls white collar professionals intermarrying "Belmont" and proles descending into chaos as "Fishtown. Ironically I think the real Fishtown got gentrified and might be somewhat upscale now. And Belmont is more middle middle class than UMC but who's counting. |

Date: March 28th, 2025 2:35 PM Author: OldHLSDude I see I've been paged. Don't know that I have a really good high school drop out story. Several people dropped out, but nothing super weird happened. If you were a guy that meant instant basic training.
I do have a pretty good college story though. When I was a senior this really weird (if you're weird at MIT, you are pretty fucking weird) freshman showed up. He had a bad acid trip and disappeared. Before he disappeared he used to say he could tell which people were disguised demons and that they spoke thusly, "Bee-bop de doop." Turns out he traveled to Jerusalem and desecrated the Holy Sepulcher. I heard he pissed on it. His parents finally found him and sent him off to a psych hospital. After I graduated I heard that he was back in school but while smoking hash had another psychotic break. According to the NYT this is what happened next:
"On Thursday he killed a woman custodian at a Catholic church and wounded four other people, two seriously, with a .22โcaliber rifle. He was shot and killed by policemen about 30 minutes later on the busy Gonzaga University campus.
Before the shooting began, police said that he had smashed an Italian marble communion railing inside St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and thousands of dollars' worth of religious statues with a sledge hammer."
We have our 60th HS reunion coming up in the fall. Maybe I will get some new stories.
