i'm not convinced that a market crash would cause a 'flight' into US treasuries specifically, considering that a lot of US stock investors are foreign entities.

this is the common econbro take all across the internet right now. pretty crazy gambit, but they don't have much choice - we can't keep shoveling money into the economy through government spending. the past couple years were totally juiced and the hangover is going to be rough.
i agree with poaster above that there's no guarantee treasuries go down. if he wrecks the economy and bonds don't follow, whatever policy actions they take for the recovery will be inflationary and bonds will explode. its hard to believe they're going to really fix the debt/deficit without enormous cuts to healthcare and defense along with higher taxes. they're chipping away at the edges but it's kind of fake. also they want to pass yuge tax cuts. so there's still a lot to be skeptical about for the 10/20/30 year buyers.
