Everyone forgets.
Microsoft was on the verge of winning. Bethesda bought. Activision acquired. The board was set, the pieces in motion. But then came Washington.
The Democratic Caucus stepped in—not as saboteurs, but as stewards. A brief moment of clarity in a sea of corporate drift. They checked the advance. Raised the banner of antitrust. Delayed the siege.
Microsoft backed off. Softened. Whispered about multiplatform dreams. They looked humbled. Weaker. The war seemed over.
But it’s a feint.
The board was still reset. The pieces still moved. Microsoft didn’t lose. They simply changed shape. The hand is off the sword, but it’s still in reach.
Let them look weak. That’s the trap.
