Tactical errors dominate low level play and are much more damaging than the sort of minor errors someone who only casually studies opening theory will make. Endgame study is more conceptual and interesting imo. I punch above my rating in endgames and below in openings. I think opponents get surprised when I can come back from a disadvantage because I have a better understanding of endgames |
