The hollywood / zoomer thread got me thinking

Movie studio that releases 60 second feature films. Well budgeted, well crafted, professionally produced.

Gimmick is the brevity. But produce well-written vignettes in the various classic genres.

Just like Hollywood struggled to transition to talkies, struggled to get rid of intermissions and 3 hour epics, the big studios are obviously ill-suited to cater to Zoomers who consoom visual storytelling that lasts 30-60 seconds.

Studio could do tv-like seasons of 15 or so extremely short episodes, and/or very short feature films. Straight to YouTube type platforms, of course. I guess in lieu of selling tickets, youd have to draw profits like streamers do, from clicks and subscriptions

it would be vertical, mobile-first film style, prob not good in imax.

think $5000 budget for 1-2 days of production. Needs 250k youtube views to break even.

app. cinema is dying and the gimmick is app-film

biz challenge is that a view (penny on youtube, much less on tiktok) pays much worse than a theater ticket.

the "app first microfilm" gimmick would, i think, get a lot of initial media coverage.

there's other similar apps but this could also work.

Also, don't abandon cinemas dammit.
