I love the "poor McCabe and his retirement" angle that WashPo et al are spinning, which is no doubt coming from McCabe and/or Comey.
Remember, guys like McCabe don't think twice when they imprison people for procedural crimes, and yet despite being entrusted with State secrets, they themselves lie and leak with impugnity for political reasons.
I'm glad he was fired, and if there is a reason to put him in jail, I'd support that too. |

And maybe he is guilty of misconduct. But regardless of that, Trump's involvement in this is inappropriate--beyond the tweets, it's a good bet we'll hear more about this in the coming days.
When the authoritarians finally lose power, we need to figure out how to codify the norms trump has been flouting. |
