highly doubt it - lawyers as a group are uncreative and risk averse. It's much easier to go with the crowd.

Of course, almost no industries use Macs - the obvious exceptions being film (almost exclusively Mac), advertising, photography, design. . .that sort of thing.

big companies like to save $. random sec'ys need the cheapest computers possible that don't break too often.

also, most software packages that law firms use probably aren't compatible with mac -- livenote, concordance/summation, etc.

Yeah, that explains it.

None of them do, which is odd because they would really benefit. The Microsoft Office Suite is available on them and they have much less problems with viruses.

"really beneft" says someone who has never spent a day in a law firm and has no idea what concordance is.

There's a lot of industry specific software probably not available on Macs unfortunately. Viruses probably aren't a big deal for firms with decent IT departments.

Maybe I'm extremely lucky, but in my many years of computer use, I have never had any virus problem.

I think that this is mostly due to me not being some dumb fat 50 y/o secretary willing to open EXE email attachments.

Macs have less problem with viruses for the very fact that they are not in widespread use in offices. Macs are just as insecure, if not more so, as PCs. They are protected from malware by obscurity.

it's true that the lower market share means fewer people are trying to write malicious code for mac, but it's also true that a properly used os x kernel is more secure than vista.
