Midlaw.
I was resigned to failure all last year. I was applying for and being rejected by really shitty, really low paying jobs. I figured I'd probably get some kind of shitlaw a few months after being licensed.
Then out of nowhere this comparatively decent midlaw firm got back to me and asked me to interview. I had some experience w/ the kind of work they do and I highlighted that on the resume/cover letter. Once they called me in, I think it helped that I spoke highly (or at least respectfully) of the piece of shit firm that no-offered me, and that a partner at said firm was willing to vouch for me. I don't know whether they spoke with him or not, but it helped me to look them in the eye and confidently say that the no-offer was their fault, not mine.

no, i haven't found anything else.
thanks hiring partner. i guess it's a good thing you kept your PPP at $1.2 million instead of $1.1 million. i'm sure you and your family needs it.
i think about killing myself every day. i guess it's a good thing i don't have the balls.

are you being for real?
law is practically the only industry where you get one crack at the apple. if you fuck it up AND/OR if it is taken from you, you are almost assuredly shit out of luck w/r/t biglaw. law firms know this which is why they historically maintained near 100% offer rates.

even lateraling to V10, I've seen plenty come from low V100's or even unranked firms. Granted, WLRK and CSM probably won't take you. Granted also, most of the laterals (but certainly not all) had decent "stats" like T14, honors, clerkship, etc. Point being, your first firm doesnt determine your career
Plus, the "higher up" you go in the V-rankings, the higher chance you'll be a burnout and burnout sooner. CSM, half the associates leave after the first 1.5-2y rotation. Especially ITE where more are forced out, I'm pretty sure most end up taking far less prestigious/lucrative positions to follow

man, this is so bunk. even hard core capitalist economists right now are reconsidering ideas like the one you just expressed after seeing the harm caused ite.
we already have laws in place to protect against this kind of thing in some situations (ie tortious interference with contract "why should it be wrong to get someone to break their K if they can make more money?")
fyi do you have an econ background? it's obnoxious when non-econ background people discuss these things. their understanding is so limited they spout off some basic talking points they've heard without having much understanding about what they heck they're talking about.

Interviewing V20 and V75 (actual numbers significantly higher in each range).
Working a six-figure job in the meantime outside law.
