There was some study done like a while ago that had Seoul I believe in the top 3 for most attractive ppl. NYC i believe is right up there too. The difference? I can actually bag a ton of the hot chicks in Seoul, much harder to do very well in NYC. It's my mother country I loved the food (it can't be overstated how amazing the food in Seoul is, it's fucking great), the people, the fact I was improving my language skills (still working on it to this day at home). Lower COL than the US (you live in a major metro but the COL resembles a secondary city [ok rent is a little high but you can get a good studio for like 700]). Tons of close friends from college. Like inconceivably bad for a city of its size, but if you don't live in the burbs you'll be ok. At least freeways don't totally dissect the city like some others
Things that are awesome: You can get a house (prices are rising but still not too bad) in a cool neighborhood with some stuff to walk to which is close to downtown. Having a house in a city is 180 (or splitting with bros if younger) Some of the bars are actually cool. Most bars are generic as fuck, SF included. And there's a good mix of dives and places with good live music You aren't that far from the best central to BBQ The people are all super nice. Almost everyone genuinely loves where they live and don't really have complaints other than the rising price of real estate (which is still obviously much cheaper than say la or the bay area). I can't emphasize this point enough--people are genuinely laid back and not in a folksy way or anything Obviously UT has some of the most attractive women anywhere and some hang around after graduating Having outdoors shit like Barton springs right in the city, easy access to floating up the river, etc Although they're in some other cities now the drafthouse is the best place to watch a movie Aforementioned bars are way cheaper than dc/sf/la/boston/nyc. $2 pint specials can be found in many places and my favorite one served free brats on Saturday afternoons
the positives far outweigh the negatives imo. It's still my favorite city and I'd kill to go back ahead of pretty much anywhere else I've lived or visited |
