If you want real talk, the vast majority of associates are billing between 1800-2300 a year and it fluctuates. Yes, you might have some 240 or 250 hour months, but that's far from the norm. Even 2400 or so a year is far from the norm. The average associate is probably billing about 2100 a year and will have some years lower than that. |

I have a pretty high tolerance for bullshit and I've been lucky enough to not work for any legit nutjobs. I billed 2400-2500 hrs (less when I was a junior, maybe 2200-ish) for 8 years. I was lucky enough to land a couple of cases as a senior associate. And by land I mean it was my connection that brought the case in, the client was really hiring the partner not me.
The emotion: as a junior, I thought if I made partner I would just be through the roof excited but really it wasn't that big a deal. By the time I got the call, I would've been pissed as fuck if I didn't make it. |

Biglaw is so feminine filled with hyper-anxious feminine douches planning everything out and unloading their anxiety of everyone else when things don't go according to plan. You seem "chill" and I'm not sure if that's just your shtick on this site or what, but that is not how psychotic junior partners typically are.
There are so much better ways to make money for the amount of hours spent, but it requires the willingness to take a little risk. Which in the end is when I guess everyone in biglaw lacks. |
