It's a middling game with good presentation grossly overrated by people who extol it for faux-artistry because they want games to be "art."
It looks great for a PS2 game, has decent music, and while the plot is barebones it's handled fine. But at heart you just don't really DO much in the game. Each boss has basically one puzzle to execute to figure out how to hurt them, and then you just hold down a button while climbing around to stab them. There's just not much game there.

it was cool as fuck when I played it. AWesome art style, the monsters were all unique and fun (very similar to the guardian beasts in the new Zelda). Very strange and sad vibe to it. Why kill all of the beasts just to bring the GF back from the dead?
