have somewhat of a roach outbreak right now. I put some leftover BBQ onto a plate and heated it up for a minute in my microwave.

When it was done, I took out the plate of piping hot BBQ pork, and saw a roach running around the back of the microwave.

What the fuck

bbq leftover should never be microwaved. your cockroach roommate overestimated you and assumed the leftovers were his as no human would have such a lack of palate.

i was tempted to argue that maybe he only cared about convenience and was willing to sacrifice food quality, but it's not really any more difficult to heat up the oven to 300 and leave the food in for 15 minutes.

maybe he was just that impatient?

How did you get a roach in your microwave man. Or was it already feasting on the BBQ leftovers?

the BBQ was in a plastic container in my fridge, I do not think that the roach was in it. My theory is that when I had the BBQ on the plate on my kitchen counter, it somehow either held onto the plate from the counter as I put it in the microwave, or it somehow snuck in when I opened the microwave door.

how have you not dealt with a roach problem for three months

why tf are you seeing roaches during the day, that means the infestation is really bad and the nest is overcrowded

I just killed a 2.5 inch long roach in my shower. Dude was just chilling there on the wall. Don't have an infestation but maybe once or twice during the summer a fully grown roachdood will get in from outside.

That's life in the south man. You have to occasionally deal with these HUGE, EXTREMELY AGILE roaches.

Roachmo here - are they the big ones or small ones?

If they're the really small ones you're FUCKED if you're seeing them regularly... especially if you're seeing them regularly during the daytime, that's not a good sign and means you have major infestation.

Remember, for every roach you see, there are many more hidden that you don't.

Your best course of action is sprinkling boric acid where you often see them. Roaches eat their own dead, so this will poison them and kill them when they clean themselves after coming into contact with it, they will then be back around the nest, and they'll eat their own dead starting off a chain reaction of roach on roach cannibalism.

fellow southern masterman here. dad had a roach outbreak at his place in charleston. literally every stage of roach from babies to adult roachbros crawling all over the walls. had exterminators come in with that gel roach bait that they squeezed behind every crack, underneath cupboards, baseboard, etc. no fumes or anything. within a week, every last roach was gone.

advion was the brand name i think

chilmata here. Before I met my black wife my apartment complex had roaches. I know you won't believe it, but they weren't from me. The old alcoholic lady in the complex brought them in.

But anyway, the exterminator told me that you can't just treat them once. When you are infested and the exterminator comes, he'll kill off the "cousins, aunts, and uncles" but the "mom and pop" will escape and then come back and start breeding again. You have to hit them twice, a couple weeks apart.

Have fun!

Oriental cockroaches are the champ of southern insects. They come out in herds at night. If you get up and turn on a light you can see them moving as a black wave and hear them scurrying across the linoleum floors. I used to catch them in a roach trap and sell them as fish bait. Two for a penny. Their guts come out sort of like cream cheese when you put them on a hook.

Can confirm. The very first apartment I had as a college sophomore was infested with the fuckers. Would turn on the light at night and there would be tiny little roachdoods scurrying all over the counter and the plates in the sink. There were tons of them, I'd probably see like 30 so which meant there were literally hundreds if not thousands. Luckily I got the fuck out of that place at the end of the year and have never dealt with those types of roaches again. All of my other roach encounters have been one-offs with large roaches that aren't breeding inside.
