Mega corporations may be able to afford some 250k diversity and inclusion global VP position that's PR facing, but labor costs are huge proportion of costs for most firms, they won't be able to afford nor will they want to stuff their ranks with AA bloat anymore than they have to, especially if they're competing with global firms that don't give af about this....
Even with near record high stocks many huge corps right now are under some sort of austerity measures / hiring freezes in most units or some shit, if only due to pandemic uncertainty etc |

anyway, your specific case doesn't invalidate his general point: blacks are a minority, few of them are smart enough for Wells Fargo, and the ones who are are quickly snapped up by the diversity-hiring initiatives at every other big company. pretty soon they'll have to start importing Nigerians. |
