People in Honolulu reported fuel smell in their tap water before the leak was disclosed, but then Navy tried to claim only on base housing was affected and the public was safe. So you could tell they were LYING on day one, but did Hawaii's majestic Senators do anything about it? I think they "demanded action from the Navy," Navy said "will do," and then Zelensky was on your screen again.
We finally got images of the damaged tank 6 months later, and they were leaked by someone inside the Navy. That's how bad the coverup was. The images showed a piece of destroyed PVC, which at a minimum tells you they were using PVC to move jet fuel.
I could go on, but the story is an old one that's been repeating itself across America since the 1950s. We built all these facilities in a jiffy during WWII, and 70 years later we are building more new facilities instead of checking up on the old ones. At least the Navy knew these fuel tanks still existed and still had fuel in them. A lot of underground fuel tanks were just forgotten and paved over, many still full of fuel. One had a public park with playgrounds built on top of it into they realized it was a superfund site in like 2009. In Hawaii we got all this done before we even made it a state. Now it's a state but the Navy still wipes its ass with the locals. Libs? |
