Do homeless shelters offer job and housing services, so you don’t end up on the streets?
Hell, no. I went to my local homeless shelter and said I was living in my vehicle, and I needed a job. They laughed at me, like scoffed out loud. The lady made this noise, and said, no, we don’t do things like that, in this disgusted tone, like I was in the wrong for asking such a thing. Pretty bizarre, I thought. But it seems like most homeless shelters are horrible, abusive places, in my limited experience, and the people who work there are truly awful. That’s been my experience. I’ve gotten less than no help; the one caseworker I got gave me really bad advice, cost me a lot of money I really needed. If you become homeless in the US, good luck, you’re gonna need it because there’s no help to be had.
