Basically I use my GW, PW or SW to hit 3 different distances each by taking back to knee height, waist heigh, and shoulder height.

Looks like pitch shot has the least consensus of any golf swing on doing it correctly, but I'm hitting it straight with a satisfying click each time by basically doing everything that's wrong for a full iron swing:

-OTT take back

-0 wrist action

-steep down swing path

-narrow feet width, ball back in stance

-weight on front foot at setup

It feels like I'm naturally tossing the ball straight at the target every time and getting lots of compression without trying hard.

Is this what you guys do for pitch shots?

I go by feel. grass conditions, green firmness etc all play a part. generally softer hands and a flatter swing is good for low spinning shots and firmer steeper for higher flight.

what do you mean OTT take back? you take it away outside or you take it away inside then come back over the top?

the rest of what youre doing sounds good if it works.

i dont use the PW for pitch shots though. ironic give the name but i think they were around 52* when they originally called them that. even when i played with a 49* i went with more loft

Yeah take back in a straight line (like beginners do on full swings causing awful outside-in path on downswing) versus normal take back (ie, right bicep curl and turning right shoulder to heel while keeping elbows close to body).

What loft do you pitch with?

sounds like its working

in the past i used a 52 when i could, and when i needed it stop quicker a high bounce 56 in soft conditions and low bounce 60 when firmer. these days i just have a 54 bent to 53 and a 60

yeah that's basically what everyone ever says about pitch shots, although you can move the ball around in your stance or open up the club face to change the trajectory

I played twice this week on a soaking wet course with spongy turf where you can't use bounce at all because anything will dig and you absolutely have to catch the ball first. Played most 20-40 yd shots back in stance hands forward, steep descending blow. Generally went with toe down putting stroke for delicate just off the green chips.
