The lower court cases addressed additional nuances not at issue in the supreme court case, all of which are applicable to the instant case, which presents an issue of first impression and would involve a minor extension of prior holdings. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing.

What kind of shitlaw boss or lawyer past age 30 “cites” stuff. Usually you hire law students to write stuff. You should be focused on going to court and getting clients.

Pretty common especially if you are in a jurisdiction w/o appeal of right and you have to petition the state Supreme Court to hear the appeal and try to get a writ.
