$10 mil @ 5% return = $500,000 / year
That’s $400,000 after 20% taxes (conservative)
$200,000 needs to be reinvested which is 2% growth per year
Leaving you $200,000 to spend
Can you survive 40 years where your $10 mil gets whittled down in purchasing power 13% a year?

$10 million is enough assuming you have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and have two years to live. Then go ahead and give your two weeks notice.
