as far as i can tell, Anthony's behavior is near the dividing line between Murder and Voluntary Manslaughter.
the internet seems to think that while Texas does not have a mitigation of imperfect self-defense, it does let the defendant argue "sudden passion" in the penalty phase. |

Date: June 7th, 2026 5:55 PM Author: tokens in abundance Even if he goes down for murder Texas lets virtually everyone out after 30 years if you don't get capital or have concurrent offenses. Given his young age and any heat of the moment mitigation I assume he will get 20 years max and likely only serve 10. He is guaranteed to see the light of day again.
What's crazy is that he brought a knife for no reason. He was looking for trouble. And I thought I read that he had it unfolded when he went into the tent. No explanation for criminal premeditation. Either way he will be out in max 30 years with parole approval which is likely but I doubt he will do more than 20. |
