But more to the point why include it at all if you're only going to quote isolated snippets with even trying to understand their context? Christian theologians just mined the OT for quotes they thought were useful and were just like "wtf?" when it came to the other 99%. Erasmus had an uneasy relationship with it |

Some people think it wasn't until some time later that Jesus was understood to have been a greater figure then John the Baptist.
