Here's one example I remember seeing: Delco. The car parts. You expect GM quality.
However, when translating the sounds "del" and "co" from english, Koreans have several options. They can write it as "de ruh koh" for example, they don't have to write as "del koh." In fact "del koh" written in hangul might not tell you it's an imported word, where as the former spelling uses character combos you associate with imported words. So Koreans can make a knockoff brand of car parts called "Delkor" in english, but in Korean it's spelled the same as "Delco." They did the same thing with every goddamn popular brand name in English. Everywhere. Smurf becomes "smo puh" in Korean, then it gets re-translated back to english as Smoper so they can't get sued for "Smoper Pizza" "Smoper Chicken."
If you aren't accustomed to these horseshit games they play, you might not know how to search for "Chicago Garage" in Seoul. In fact, if you do search for "Chicago Garage" in Seoul, you'll get a different business located way the fuck across town (though I invite you to check out that neighborhood on Street View too). |

Korea is fundamentally a nation of peasants who were heavily propped up by Uncle Sam for 50 years until they could pull it together. I saw a couple on a date order a bowl of canned green giant corn, which was opened up and put in a bowl in the center of the table, which they then shared.
