The average person in any society operates on a 1-year time horizon. A farmer is only concerned about this year's crop. A wagecuck cares about his annual income this year, his tax burden this year, the *annual* percentage rate of any debt he has, and so on. Elites with money to burn can operate on longer time horizons, but they don't constitute the bulk of society, and they are much more likely to be victims of leftist violence than perpetrators of it.
All you had to do to provoke leftist violence, historically, was threaten people's perceived "social safety net" that year. Note that leftist violence isn't the same as leftist "victory." In fact most leftist rebellions have failed so spectacularly that we barely have good records on them. You learned all about the Vietnam War from the media but did you ever hear mention of this event?

No you didn't, because it failed. But it was still violent. Ordinary people picked up weapons (farm tools) and committed horrendous acts of violence. |
