The middle eastern immigrants into the area before 1965 were almost exclusively Christian, specifically Lebanese Christians (especially Maronites) and Syrian Assyrian Christians. The muslims started coming much much later, starting in the 1970s and then flooding in from the 1980s. Generally, anyone in America (or Brazil, Argentina, Mexico) who has Arab ancestry more than a couple of generations ago, those ancestors were almost certainly Christians not muslims. |
