if it's "too late" to establish a campaign, then hillary is the only real option. she doesn't need to waste any time introducing herself and she has an army of experienced people to call up. she's the only one who can logistically pull it off without being entirely dependent on the biden team. she's also the most experienced statesman on the roster and easy for moderates to have confidence in when they go to vote against trump.
and for the record, i would LOVE to see her lose again.
